Running a campaign

What a campaign is
A campaign groups everything you do for one goal, such as a product launch, an event or a seasonal promotion. Email broadcasts, social posts, landing pages and automations all sit inside the campaign, and its overview adds up the results from every channel. You can see how the whole push performed, not just one email.
Each campaign also gets its own tracking tag (a UTM campaign value). Chorum adds it to links in the campaign's outbound content, so visits from your emails and posts show up against the right campaign in your web analytics.
Create a campaign
- Go to Marketing, Campaigns and create a new campaign (or choose Build a campaign on the Marketing Overview).
- Campaign name: for example "Spring product launch". The UTM tag is generated from this name.
- Description (optional): why the campaign exists and what success looks like. Your team will thank you later.
- Objective: Awareness, Lead generation, Retention, Revenue or Custom / other.
- Product attribution (optional): link the campaign to one of your products so engagement and revenue roll up to that product. This option is not shown when you are working in a customer's workspace.
- Budget (optional), Start date and End date.
- Choose Create campaign. New campaigns start in Planning.
Add content to the campaign
Open the campaign and use its tabs: Emails, Social, Landing pages and Automations. Create new content from each tab and it is attached to the campaign automatically.
- Emails: email broadcasts for the campaign, plus any email templates made for it. See Sending an email broadcast.
- Social: posts for LinkedIn, X and Meta. See Scheduling social media posts.
- Landing pages: pages that your emails and posts link to. See Landing pages.
- Automations: drip sequences such as a follow-up series for people who sign up. See Marketing automations and drip sequences.
Run the campaign
Campaigns move through Planning, Active, Paused and Completed. Use the buttons at the top of the campaign to change its status:
- Make it Active when you start sending. From then on the campaign's UTM tag is applied to links in its content.
- Pause it if you need to stop for a while, and make it active again to carry on.
- Mark it Completed when it is finished, so your list of live campaigns stays tidy.
Plan the timing on Campaigns, Calendar. It shows scheduled and recently published emails, social posts, campaign date ranges and landing pages in one timeline. Drag an item to a new day to reschedule it.
Read the results
The campaign Overview adds up results across channels: Email sends, Email opens, Email clicks, Social engagement, Landing page views, Automation enrolments and Total assets. It also shows the campaign's UTM tag, objective, product, budget and dates.
For results across all your marketing, see Marketing reports and ROI.
Finding and tidying campaigns
- The Campaigns list shows each campaign with counts of its emails, social posts, pages and flows. Filter by status, or search by name, product or UTM tag.
- Deleting a campaign does not delete its content. Its emails, posts, pages and automations become standalone items you can still find on their own pages.
Tips
- Pick one objective per campaign. If you find yourself choosing two, it is probably two campaigns.
- Give every campaign a landing page, so every email and post has somewhere useful to send people and you can measure conversions in one place.
- To plan the work itself (tasks, owners, deadlines), use Workflow, Projects and Project Templates alongside the campaign.
