Connecting web analytics

Why connect web analytics

Your website and search data make the Marketing module far more useful. Once connected, real traffic, search performance and conversions flow into Reports, ROI, the SEO Command Centre, the Keywords tracker and Opportunities, next to your email and social results.

History only builds up from the day you connect, so connect early, even before you plan to use the reports.

What you can connect

Go to Marketing, Settings, Web analytics. There are four connections. Each has its own step by step guide:

  • Google Analytics 4: website sessions and conversions, including sessions per campaign. Sign in with Google, then pick your GA4 property. See Google Analytics 4.
  • Google Search Console: the searches you appear for in Google, with impressions, clicks and positions. Sign in with Google, then pick your verified site. See Google Search Console.
  • Bing Webmaster Tools: the same picture for Bing searches. Enter your site URL and Bing API key. See Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Microsoft Clarity: heatmaps and session recordings. Register your Clarity project so Chorum can link you straight to the right recordings. See Microsoft Clarity.

Which to connect first

  1. Search Console: it drives the SEO Command Centre, keyword tracking and content Opportunities.
  2. Google Analytics 4: it adds website sessions and conversions to Reports and campaigns.
  3. Bing Webmaster Tools: it completes the search picture.
  4. Clarity: when you want to see how visitors behave on your pages.

When data appears

Chorum takes a snapshot from each connected service every night, so most data appears the day after you connect. Search Console data itself is usually two to three days behind. Use the refresh option on Reports to pull today's partial numbers.

For your customers

Switch to a customer's workspace before connecting, and their analytics stay in their own workspace and reports.
