Microsoft Clarity: register your project
Last updated:
What it does
Microsoft Clarity is a free tool that shows how people use your website: heatmaps, scroll maps and recordings of real visits. Once you register your Clarity project in Chorum, the Reports page gets an Open Clarity dashboard button, so you can go from "this page is not converting" to watching what visitors actually do in one click.
Clarity does not offer a way to pull its figures into other tools, so Chorum links to Clarity rather than copying data in.
Before you start
- You need an admin role in Chorum.
- You need a Clarity project. Sign up free at clarity.microsoft.com.
- The Clarity tracking code must be installed on your website. Clarity gives you a short snippet to add to your site's pages.
Step 1: find your project ID
- Sign in to Clarity and open your project.
- Look at the address in your browser:
https://clarity.microsoft.com/projects/view/<project ID>/.... Copy the project ID part, usually a short mix of letters and numbers.
Step 2: register it in Chorum
- Go to Marketing, Settings, Web analytics.
- On the Microsoft Clarity card, choose Register Clarity project.
- Paste the Project ID and register.
Step 3: use it
Open Marketing, Intelligence, Reports and scroll to the Microsoft Clarity panel. Choose Open Clarity dashboard to open your project in a new tab, where you sign in with your Microsoft account as usual.
For your customers
Each customer workspace can register its own Clarity project. The button on Reports always opens the project for the workspace you are in.
Good to know
- The project ID is not secret: it already appears in your website's tracking code.
- Chorum does not sign in to Clarity; the button simply takes you there.
- Choose Remove on the registration to delete it.
