Getting started with Marketing

What the Marketing module does

Marketing brings your email, social, landing pages, forms, SEO and reporting into one place, next to your CRM. Everything you send or publish is tracked back to contacts and deals, so you can see which campaigns actually bring in work.

Open it from the module switcher, then choose Marketing. The Overview page shows your recent email broadcasts with their open and click rates, what is scheduled next, and quick actions such as Build a campaign, Send an email broadcast and Create a list.

How the menu is organised

  • Campaigns: campaigns, the marketing Calendar and AI content Opportunities.
  • Email: Broadcasts, Templates, Mailing Lists and the Bounce List.
  • Content: Landing Pages, the Media Library, Forms and Social Media.
  • SEO: the SEO Command Centre, Keywords, Keyword Research, Competitors, Backlinks, Site Audit and AI Visibility.
  • Intelligence: Reports, ROI, News and Alerts.
  • Workflow: Automations, Drip Sequences, Projects and Project Templates.
  • Settings: brand kit, sender domains, social accounts, web analytics, integrations and API keys.

Your marketing or a customer's marketing

If you run marketing for clients as well as for yourself, use the workspace switcher at the top of the Marketing pages. Tenant-wide is your own marketing. Pick a customer from the list (you can search by name) to work inside that customer's workspace instead. Lists, broadcasts, social posts, pages, brand kit and reports are kept separate for each workspace, so one client's contacts never appear in another client's sends.

The switcher remembers your last choice. Always check which workspace is showing before you send anything.

Your first week: a setup checklist

Work through these in order. Each step links to a detailed guide.

  1. Set up your brand kit at Marketing, Settings, Brand kit: colours, fonts, logo and tone of voice. The AI writing tools use it, so do this first. See Setting up your brand kit.
  2. Add a sender at Marketing, Settings, Sender domains so your emails come from your own address. See Sender domains and email deliverability.
  3. Build your first mailing list by importing a CSV or pulling contacts from the CRM. See Mailing lists and subscribers.
  4. Send your first broadcast to a test list that only contains your own addresses, then send it to your real list. See Sending an email broadcast.
  5. Connect your social accounts (LinkedIn, X and Meta) to schedule posts. See Scheduling social media posts.
  6. Connect web analytics (Google Analytics 4, Search Console, Bing Webmaster, Microsoft Clarity) so traffic shows up in your reports. See Connecting web analytics.
  7. Capture leads with a form or landing page so new contacts arrive in the CRM automatically. See Forms and lead capture and Landing pages.
  8. Group it all into a campaign so you can see results in one place. See Running a campaign.

Good habits

  • Test before you send. Keep a small mailing list with just your team's addresses, send to it first, and open the email on a phone as well as a desktop.
  • Only email people who agreed to hear from you. Chorum adds an unsubscribe link and honours the bounce and suppression lists automatically, but consent starts with how you collect addresses.
  • Use the calendar. Campaigns, Calendar shows broadcasts, social posts and campaign dates together, and you can drag items to reschedule them.
  • Let AI draft, then edit. Subject line ideas, email drafts and social captions follow your brand kit, but always read them before they go out.

Working with AI assistants

You can connect Claude, Cursor or another MCP client to your Marketing data and ask it to draft emails, build lists or pull reports for you. See Connecting Claude and other AI assistants to Marketing.
